Metro FM Zozibini Poll is disrespectful! How does a tweet leave the metro FM offices and find it’s way into these Twitter streets without permission from Metro FM head of social media?
Last night a new miss south Africa was crowned in Tshwane Menlyn at the Sun Arena. The event was hosted by the very so lovely, very gracious and gorgeous Bonang Matheba. Miss south Africa was streamed nationally but according to some tweets, one was able to view the show from anywhere in the world.
During the Miss south Africa ceremony a couple of the African Queens competing started trending on Twitter and Chuma and Zozibini where amongst the few. When Miss South African was finally chosen, Miss Zozibini Tunzi got the crown, some expressed their disappointments on Twitter tweeting that Chuma should have won etc.
Well, Chuma didn’t win and if you saw the Live feeds or the show on DSTV you might have noticed how almost all the Miss South Africa finalists were genuinely happy for Zozibini.
This brings us to Metro FM this morning on the Weekend show. METRO FM issued out a poll asking listeners what they thought of the new Miss South Africa. Metro FM hadn’t congratulated Zozi Yet.
The poll went like: what do you think of the new miss South Africa? Stunning, just ok, or wrong decision. The country is outraged at the carelessness of such polls and statements towards all women but most importantly, black women. Oksalayo Miss South Africa is Zozibini Tunzi and her crown should be respected.
It’s so funny that this is happening now, at a time when being natural is celebrated and where such polls weren’t even a topic of discussion in regards to previous Miss SA Winners. Its utterly disrespectful to try to bash a woman who has won the hearts of many and try tarnish her brand, self esteem and self confidence.
Metro FM then gave an apology, but the apology doesn’t make sense. How does a tweet leave the office of the metro FM studios and find it’s way in these Twitter streets without permission?
