When I first bought the fabric for this dress, I didn’t have a clue on what I’d make out of it. I had spent hours looking for inspiration but my drawing page was blank. I even went on the internet, googled some fabulous BUTTERFLY PRINT DRESS lookalikes but I didn’t want to duplicate what was already there and altering a design wasn’t an option. So I decided to take my pencil and paper and head out to the fabric shop and see what I could find and get inspired. There was a lot of fabric at the shop and the ideas started flowing in. I’d pick one item and a whole outfit would pop in my mind. I would shift my eyes slightly and be met with the most glamorous textile and immediately change what was in my head.
Frustrated because I couldn’t buy the entire shop, I sat down on the floor in-between one of the isles, closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Luckily it was a Sunday so not many people were in the shop. Then I opened my eyes and right in front of me was a very beautiful light chiffon fabric with butterfly prints and pastel colours.
I took the roll and went for a cutting, still no idea of what to make with it I got home, stared at it for a couple more hours before deciding on producing a long summer dress created in my head. Inspired by butterflies and pastels and honored to be a woman, I can wear these colours and they will accentuate my femininity. The dress flows with such grace it makes me feel like royalty. I can dress this dress down with sandals or glam it up with nude heels and some fine jewels with a nude or pink pastel bag.
We took these BUTTERFLY PRINT DRESS images at Proactive Guest House in Pretoria East right after a long day at work. I’m grateful I get to travel with my friends and I’m never alone, friendship is very important to me, trust, fun and honesty. I look at these images and I get butterflies in my stomach; the beautiful background and of course the beautiful dress. Its moments like these I feel blessed.
