Movies and Series Review

Ocean’s 8 consists of an All female A-List cast, Including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Danny Ocean’s estranged sister ( Sandra Bullock) Debbie attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala. Her first stop is to assemble the perfect all-female crew: Lou, Rose, Daphne Kluger, Nine Ball, Tammy, Amita, and Constance.

Maybe it’s because the filmmakers have assembled an incredible cast of actors either at the top of their game or still on the climb, there’s a sense of excitement in the air about this.

And you know what? It’s fun. Dumb fun but fun nonetheless.

Debbie has been planning this for years from the confines of her prison cell, running it through her head until she had the confidence of getting away with it.

The reason to see Ocean’s 8 is spending time with these 8 incredible women, watching them scheme and pull off a daring and risky heist. There is sparkling chemistry between the whole cast, just watching them having a brilliant time together is so joyful. Because they look like they’re having fun, you want to have fun with them.

Ocean’s 8 is an unapologetically women’s film — which is not to say that men won’t have a great time as well. But almost everything takes place in spaces that have traditionally been associated with women — Bergdorfs, the Met Gala, jewellery stores. Even the take is “blingy Liz Taylor” jewels, not cold, hard cash.

Ocean’s 8 opens in South African Cinemas…. hhhhhmmmmmm ( Not Sure) But it’s released in the U.S on the 7th of June.

Fun Facts : According to Vogue…  it was revealed that Rihanna’s Ocean’s 8 character—a hacker named Nine Ball—was inspired, in part, by Rihanna’s roots. The story goes that late one night in 2016, Ocean’s 8 director Gary Ross and Rihanna were tossing around a few ideas for her character after a concert in Sweden, and settled on keeping Nine Ball Bajan (the term Barbados natives often use to refer to themselves), just like the actress who plays her.
