Alexander Skarsgard
If you haven’t yet gone to see The Legend of Tarzan and you are a heterosexual girl, that likes things or a man that’s inspired by strength then you have done yourself a disservice. But, I get it, if you saw the 2013 Tarzan Animation movie and didn’t like it, you wouldn’t want to see the 2016 Real life, real 3D movie either. Because the story line is overdone. Tarzan is taken from pieces of our primary school books. Therefore the legend is always about the same thing, a boy that grew up with monkeys, gorillas or apes. So if that is the story line, honestly, what more can be added to it to make it different, more appealing to me and the larger target market and make it novel and unique?
It was late Tuesday evening and I hadn’t been to the movies in what seemed like ages. But lo and behold, I was late. Late for movies? Me? Never!!! Oh well… I guess it’s part of growing up.. Movies get pushed back to make room for higher priorities like business meetings and work deadlines. So I told Derrick id be late, and asked him to pick whatever movie I hadn’t seen. So when I finally got to the theater I was told we watching Tarzan! God, my heart sank!
What usually happens in such western movies is that there isn’t really a lot of diversity in terms of characters. But I put my big girl smile on and went to face the music.
I HAVE TO TELL YOU, I WAS blown away. First of all the story takes place in the Congo Jungle. Now that was refreshing. There are a whole lot of Black characters, obviously not leading, but Samuel L Jackson and Djimon Honsou did a good job as supporting cast. The mind blowing doesn’t end with the cast.
The story is different. The movie is unique and the characters appear fresh. Well re-written. But guys and ladies, my head fell to the floor at the sight of Tarzans almost naked body. His body is (Alexander Skarsgard) Wow. A sight for sore eyes. His animalistic nature is enticing and all in all his love for Jane is overwhelming. Making this movie, not a chick flick, but a movie for romantics and those that believe in Love and monogamy.
What I would have loved to see though, was a bit more reality about someone who grew up in the jungle. This guy’s skin is super smooth with no cuts to show that he lived in the jungle for more than half his life. But that is compensated by the shape his fingers and hands took as a result of walking on all fours like an ape for a long time. And, I’m thinking, since he lived his youth in Congo, You telling me he had never seen a black girl before? But I do understand thought that maybe Jane was the only one with fare skin.
All in All, The legend of Tarzan actor Alexander Skarsgård is our #ManCrushMonday for his awesome body, his 1.9 meter tall-ness, his awesome acting skills and the electrifying chemistry he has with Jane. Make sure you go watch Alexander Skarsgard in the Legend of Tarzan at IMAX or in Real3D and share with us your thoughts about the flick.
