African Makeup for dark skin girls

Living in South Africa, I’ve had the awesome opportunity of finding makeup brands for my specific skin tone. Some makeup brands have improved in terms of the formula they use to make foundation and some makeup brands have simply added a variety of ranges to cater to different skin tones, different undertones and different skin types. So, writing this piece to share with you ladies the best makeup for dark skin girls tones is only a pleasure.

When i visited the United kingdom for the first time, i noticed that there was not necessarily a wide variety of pigmented makeup for dark skin tones but i wasn’t mad at it because i knew that was going back home where there is an endless supply of dark skin makeup. But with all that variety, it becomes a job to sift through all the brands and find the one perfect for your. I have tested and used a couple of brands that supply makeup for dark skin girls and i can tell you which ones are awesome, which ones are playing with us and which ones are the truth.

1. Mac Cosmetics

I started using mac cosmetics because their compact powder is from the gods. The Mac Cosmetics Compact powder is a one-step powder and foundation that gives skin a smooth, flawless, all-matte finish with medium-to-full coverage and a velvety texture that allows skin to breathe. Long-wearing, color-true, non-caking, non-streaking, non-settling/creasing, non-fading all for 12 hours. The Mac Cosmetics Compact powder is a perfect brand when you looking for makeup for dark skin tones because It is extremely lightweight and provides a silky smooth finish to the skin while giving a sheer coverage. It blends easily onto the skin without disturbing the makeup. Wear it by itself or over your foundation to set it.

2. Estee Lauder

Estee Lauder Double Wear, Stay in Place Makeup is a great foundation for dark skin because they didn’t just start thinking about darker skin tones yesterday. My mother used to use Estee Lauder and she looked flawless. I think that she still uses Estee Lauder but she has branched to other brands in terms of exploring Foundations. When I told one of my friends that I use Estee Lauder for foundation, she kinda was shocked, stating that Estee Lauder is an old brand. My takeaway from her response was that it does not matter how old a makeup brand is, if it does the job, it does the job.

Estee Lauder Foundation comes in a variety of tones as well as undertones. They range from light , medium to deep. Its a sure case that you will find your foundation colour at Estee Lauder and it WILL blend with your skin. Estee Lauder is real makeup for dark skin tones. Actually, it is great makeup for every skin.

3. Revlon

Revlon Color Stay was one of the first brands I started using when i first felt the need to wear makeup. At the time, Revlon was cheaper than the rest and at the time, the shade Caramel looked great on me. I started by purchasing the Revlon compact powder because there were these rumors that foundation destroyed the skin. Well, i had great skin and i didn’t wanna mess it up. But when ever I looked for Revlon Compact Powder, I wouldn’t struggle. And maybe I should stop saying ‘ struggle; because we live in South Africa! A makeup brand will be committing suicide if they decided not to cater to the larger population of girls with all skin tones light, medium and dark

4. Maybelline

To be really honest with you, I recently started using Maybelline Foundation. I started using the Maybelline foundation only when they introduced Maybelline Fit me. The Maybelline Super Stay, according to the Maybelline website, only has 4 colours for darker skin tones. The colours are coconut, warm coconut, mocha and truffle. But, the Maybelline fit me range is awesome for everyone, especially for darker skin tons. The range is inclusive of 22 shades and my personal shade in the range is 360 AKA Mocha.

5. Loreal

How oh L’Oreal has disappointed me yet made me happy AT THE SAME time. The disappointment came when I realized that there was ONLY cappuccino and mahogany in their L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation. My face works with both Cappuccino and Mahogany Matte foundation but what about the next ‘rich’ girl who doesn’t have my skin tone or undertone? That being said, L’Oreal makes me happy with they L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Foundation which has more shades for black woman than the matte range.

6. Essence

When on a budget, get the Essence soft matte mouse. First of all, Essence has 30 colours in the soft matte mouse range. The soft matte mouse is perfect for dark skin because of how far and deep the range goes. Essence is Full coverage, super light and those are the two main factors I love about this essence foundation. This foundation blends very well, it leaves a matte like finish without drying the skin, and sets almost immediately.

7. Boddy Brown

The Bobby Brown Foundation is perfect for all skin tones especially darker skin tones because it blends perfectly with a damp sponge for a sheer, natural-looking finish. I initially thought that Bobby Brown only sells makeup for brown skin because of the name. Yep, what a lol. Anyway.. Bobby Brown is a a full coverage, natural matte foundation that blends seamlessly into skin for breathable, skin-perfecting coverage that looks fresh from sunrise to sunset. Its actually a dream for anyone desiring no nonsense coverage but with a strong aversion to cake-face.

8. Cover FX

Cover FX is a newer brand and is not a go to brand for me because i have my subjective favorites. But, for those of you that want a wider variety than my simple top 3, I’ve included Cover FX. It is created with the intention of delivering a natural-looking finish for all skin tones. Its hero product is the Custom Drops , which you can add to moisturizer, tinted moisturizer, and even sunscreen to make a shade and coverage that’s perfectly suited for your unique skin tone. The Contour Kit  is another level with two different quads suited for medium to deep skin tones—one for golden undertones and one for neutral undertones. If all that didn’t sound great enough, the Natural Finish Foundation line now boasts 40 diverse shades.

9. Lancome

If you’ve got oily skin you’ll soon find that foundation makeup can be your best friend . An oil free, long wearing, natural matte foundation that creates a velvety-smooth complexion for up to 24 hours. Available in 45 medium to full coverage, build-able shades.

This foundation was made for those ultra-long days that you do not have the time to retouch your makeup. Formulated with color-true pigments, it maintains your skin’s pH level so that color stays put all day long, without caking or creasing. Plus, it’s infused with and silica to ensure that excessive oils are absorbed, leaving behind a shine-free velvety matte complexion.  The Lancome TEINT IDOLE ULTRA 24 HR is good makeup for dark skin and all skin because it is LONG WEAR, COMFORTABLE with SPF of 15.
