Red lipstick according to tribune.com signals a woman
who is self-assured and empowered. Red lips are a sign of strength, prowess and assertion. Consider Marilyn Monroe’s in the 1950s, overtly feminine and powerful and seemingly all knowing.  Dressing your lips in red draws people’s attention to you, especially your mouth, and subsequently, the words that come out of it.

To be totally honest with you guys Siyabonga and I didn’t plan on working on a shoot on this day but thank God he is always prepared and here I am sharing with you guys images that you guys would have never had the opportunity to see.

There was an  event I had to attend that evening and I didn’t know what to wear. Then I remembered a quote, ‘In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.’ – Coco Chanel and another quote from an unknown author,  ‘If you are having any doubts, wear red’ and that’s what I did.  Siyabonga  helped me pick out this beautiful clutch from YDE 4Flavour ( with Gold PU Trim), this simple but eye catching red dress  with lace detail on the back, shoes from FOREVER21 and Bangles from KLINES Menlyn

By wearing a red dress every woman gets the desired advantage, the advantage to be seen first and draw all the attention in the room. To some this might be a bit scary especially because red is such a bright colour a person can see you approaching from a distance. Red is also very emotional and intense, it has very high visibility, which is why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red.

This colour flatters every woman but it is very important to know which shade actually looks good on you and suits you .There are different shades of red and some are not flattering to either light nor dark skin tones so be very careful which shade you pick!

If you are not feeling too daring to wear a RED SEXY DRESS , you can opt for a more subtle look by changing the dress and shoe colour to black but id advise to leave the clutch and the Lips the way they are for a hot sensual look. Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love so keep the fire burning.

I’m wearing the Red Lipstick from MAC RUBY WOO (Its gorgeous and also makes teeth look extra white) oh, and the Cherry Lip Pencil.  But, because the red was so bright I decided to lighten the cheeks a little by wearing the BLACK-UP blush in burnt orange and I also used it on my lids. I’ve used liquid foundation from CLINIQUE and matted out my face with INGLOT Face powder.

Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.
