SHE IS KING MOVIE REVIEW and Premier

She is King Movie Premier

If you enjoyed watching Lala Land starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and you also love this Great Land called South Africa with its Rich Culture, you WILL enjoy She is King. She is King is a musical. .. one of the first of its kind in South Africa. The last African Musical Movie I watched was Sarafina. … yep. .  SARAFINA is a musical / drama / thriller etc.

She is King Movie, a beautiful film that celebrates African culture, history and music in a contemporary, fun filled way, Is a timeless story of a talented young woman traveling to Joburg, City of Gold, to become a star.  The lead of this great movie is none other than SA IDOLS semi finalist Gugu Zulu with her great abs, beautiful dark skin and beautiful singing voice. Gugu Zulu is the full package. Now she didn’t make it to Idols 2017 top 10 but she was part of the top 16. Its not that she couldn’t sing… i personally felt like she kept choosing wrong songs. Anyway… when you listen to Gugu Zulu sing in this movie, you will be blown away.

Linda  ( My partner in Crime) and I were recently invited to the movie Premier held at Braamfontein Civic Centre… it was lit. The visuals are great, the concept isn’t that novel but the movie is fun to watch, for the whole family,  very raw and very real

“She is King Movie” is a joyous celebration of Zulu culture in a glossy contemporary setting, showing off Joburg as the “Broadway of Africa”.

Synopsis:
A talented young woman from a rural village travels to the “Big City” of Johannesburg, South Africa to become a Star. She lands a role in a musical play about Zulu Queen Mkabayi, Shaka’s Aunt and searches for her identity as a performer, a Zulu, a woman and a daughter.

Will she be able to keep up with her more seasoned fellow performers, avoid the jealous machinations of the aging leading lady and survive the punishing rehearsal schedule to make it to opening night and shine like the star she is?

When people talk about the city, Johannesburg, they either imagine that there are Lions walking the streets or that we live in desperate slums. The Team wants to show the city in all its modern beauty. Most people will see something they never imagined. They want to show you that young African women are exactly the same as young Chinese women, American women, Brazilian women and German women. This film tells a universal story that is fun and entertaining while sending positive messages to young women everywhere.
