Drink your greens: If someone would have told me, when I was a teenager, that I would be ‘drinking my greens’ in the future, I would have laughed at them. And not just laughed, like totally be in disbelief. Growing up I ate a lot of junk and it all caught up with me in my mid twenty’s. And that’s when I started making the changes. I am now a very health conscious person, but it didn’t come naturally. Also, with my family’s history of heart disease, switching from junk to greens was necessary, but it wasn’t easy. At first drinking my greens was disgusting, now I can’t live without it
It is very important not to overcook vegetables. Overcooking will not only result in the loss of important nutrients, it will also drain the flavor. Light steaming, baking, and quick stir frying are the best ways to cook vegetables. On this path of health and weight-loss I also decided to not boil vegetables unless I am making soup, so that most of the nutrients will leach into the water.
Anyway, I started drinking my greens for weight-loss but I noticed that when I drank my greens my face started looking suppler and much younger. Wow, it’s been a hectic and rough two years with binge eating and poisonous drinks every weekend. Alcohol will make you feel good but it will also dehydrate you, make you look like old biltong and certainly take away your beauty. When you stop drinking or limit drastically, you will notice a difference in your skin tone and texture and YOU WILL LOVE IT.
So, what I do to get my skin looking awesome and my body getting back to where it was before I started abusing it? Drinking my greens.
I eat vegetables for my health
Optimal nourishment is another reason that vegetables are important daily. You need to eat vegetables every day ( drink your greens) because you need a supply of vitamins every day. Some vitamins can be stored for future use and others cannot. Some of the vitamins that can be stored in the body are called fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamins A, D and E. For the body to run its best we also need water-soluble vitamins. We need these water-soluble vitamins every single day because they can’t be stored in the body or can only be stored in small amounts. And since the body cannot make these vitamins (or any vitamins), we have to get them from the food we eat. When considered as a group, vegetables are unusually rich sources for a full mixture of water-soluble vitamins. That’s why so many health care recommendations encourage 3-5 servings of vegetables per day.

I eat protein; Chicken, fish and beef for strength and building the body.
Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. Hair and nails are mostly made of protein. Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues. You also use protein to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood.
For these reasons, it’s important for one to know what one’s body really needs and to know what is good for your body and what’s needed.
So, when I don’t want to ‘build my body and want to lose mass, I stay away from protein. When I want to be healthy, I make sure I eat tons of green vegetables. When I want to look pretty, I spend a week eating fruits and drinking tons of water. But when I just want to keep my body relaxed, I eat small amounts of everything, Fruits, vegetables, protein and water and balance everything
If you know your body, you will know what It needs. And that’s why I drink my greens because it’s easier, it takes less time to blend the smoothie and blending keeps all yummy nutrients.

- Baby Spinach
- 1 Banana
- 1 Peach
- Plain Double Cream yogurt (for fat and protein)
- A handful of strawberries
