When I think of Tribal prints, the first thing that comes to mind is TOGETHERNESS. Tribal prints are prints that have a specific pattern relevant to a certain tribe. Tribal prints have many functions, one of the many uses of tribal prints are to differentiate a community member from tribe to tribe. A community that has a sense of cohesiveness stays together and that’s why when anyone buys a tribal print outfit, it’s always helpful to know where the print comes from or where it originated.
On this particular day I was wearing a print that might not necessarily be a tribal print, according to certain fashionistas but the print on this dress is more like an eastern mosaic pattern. But then the question arises, is a mosaic print then NOT tribal? Tribal prints are prints that belong to certain tribes and since we are all from different walks of life and we belong to different tribes, communities and places around the world, tribal prints are not limited to AFRICA or African.
Now for the fun part!! If you are going to go for a holistic tribal print, the shoes HAVE to stand out that’s why I chose to wear shoes from ZARA for this specific occasion. The shoes are so gorgeous!! Love the bright colour and the length of the heel… not too long and certainly not too short making a day out for ice-cream a lot merrier because no one has time to go out anywhere, in flat shoes. LOL
To really pull off a tribal print look which sometimes borders on bohemia, you should do your hair in a not so modern way as tribes are predominantly a thing of the ‘past’. So, modern hair looks might not necessarily work so very well with a tribal print look if you are looking for a more holistic tribal outfit.
I chose blue silver earrings for this tribal print look because I wanted to bring in more colour to an already interesting combo. The truth of the matter Is that a tribe doesn’t exist on its own… a tribe needs people to exist and these people need to be working together.
The tribe I have chosen to represent n and affiliate myself with in this particular piece is my ride or die Amazonian tribe of young, talented and beautiful women working hard and smart in this concrete jungle. When we, as a tribe, start working together we get so much more accomplished than when we work alone. My strong and beautiful tribe of talented women are the best tribe ever and its one of my favorite affiliates.
Let’s keep together, let’s stay slaying and let’s keep building each other up.
